Delhi University CATE Exam 2009 English Course




Delhi University will be conducting an entrance exams for all those want to take admissions to the BA (Hons) English course under DU. The entrance exam is called as CATE (Common Aptitude Test for English) and 12 colleges will accept the scores for admission. The colleges who do not participate in CATE will have to take students based on the class 12 marks.

This move from DU has put many candidates under tremendous pressure. We understand that English courses in DU are very popular. And this move will help the best students to get the seats for the courses. CATE 2009 will be conducted on  June 17 at 1 pm. The application will be available in DU (Room 52) from June 1, 2009.

CATE will be a 100-mark test will comprise multiple choice questions to assess vocabulary, grammar, language skills and literary knowledge of the candidates as well as questions in comprehension and essay writing. Part I will test the linguistic skills, while Part II will evaluate their imaginative writing. According to DU no special preparation is required for this test.

The colleges which will admit students to English (Hons) through CATE are: Delhi College of Arts and Commerce, Hindu College, Indraprastha College for Women, Kamla Nehru College, Maharaja Agrasen College, Ram Lal Anand College (Evening), Satyawati College (Evening), Shivaji College, Shyam Lal College, Swami Shraddhanand College, Zakir Husain College and Zakir Husain College (Evening).
