SBI to Recruit 30,000 Clerks & 5,000 Officers

State Bank of India (SBI) is planning to expedite branch expansion and recruitment as it is eyeing an annual 25 per cent business growth in the next few years. The bank will soon announce around 30,000 openings in the clerical cadre and 5,000 in the officer grade to not only fill the vacuum created by the retirement of personnel in the next couple of years.

The bank is planning to create a dedicated cadre of rural officers, who will grow it’s rural business for 10 years before migrating to general banking. Of the 5,000 officer-grade personnel who will be recruited in FY2011, around 2,000 will be exclusively for rural banking, said Mr Anup Banerji, Deputy Managing Director, SBI.
