85% Indian Users prefer Orkut over Facebook
Call it first mover advantage or simple design- 85% of Internet users visit Orkut while only 35% visit Facebook. This is based on the internet poll conducted by Parinama from March 24, 2010 to April 10, 2010. The popularity of Orkut with Indian users have been confirmed by Comscore.

We asked our readers to select 2 social networking sites that they use frequently. A whooping 85% of they use Orkut and 35% use Facebook. Well some studies have shown that Facebook is growing at a rapid rate in India. Surprisingly Twitter has only 4% of fan following. Indian Social networking sites like ibibo, Bharat Student and Big Adda have not fared well in this poll.
The top 10 cities in which Parinama got traffic during this time frame are Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Calcutta, Chandigarh, Pune, Jaipur and Indore. The visitors fall in the age range of 15 to 25 years.
