ISB Info Session 2010: July 25 Session in Bangalore

I attended the ISB Info Session on July 25, 2010. It was held in ITC Windsor in Bangalore. I applied online for the info sessions. You can also apply for the upcoming sessions for the ISB 2012 batch.

I was not serious of applying to ISB until then. I just thought of attending the session for the heck of it. I took me over 2 months to atleast blog about it.

2 members from Admissions and 3-4 Alumi were in team who address an audience of over 200 aspirants. They started with a short musical video on ISB. Well after a couple of days I released that it was composed by the students of Class 2007.

The whole presentation was divided into 2 main sections. First Section is essentially a sales pitch. The second section is the Q&A. The content of the first section can be read in their website. They did not say anything new. They talked about admissions, scholarships, placements, academics, school life etc. In the Q& A section a lot of interesting questions were asked.

Summary of what I have heard in the sessions

  • Candidate is admitted based on Qualification, Application & Interviews. It seems that equal weightage is given to every section.
  • Interviews are generally for 20 to 30 minutes per candidate. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for interview.
  • A huge chunk of applicants are BTech/BE. Such candidates have high GMAT score. I heard from one of the AdCom member saying that competition is fierce in the IT pool. So you are better off having a hugh GMAT score.
  • Your recommendation should reflect that your a leader & a team player.  It looks like they are smart out in weeding out out-of-the-world recommendations.
  • Average salary of ISB students is 16 lakhs. The AdCom did not give numbers for highest salary.
  • Average experience is around 5 years. Minimum is 2 years.

All participants were given a brochure, cookies and a cup of tea. Well I will write another post on the highlights of the brochure. I will also give an update on my ISB campus visit. Stay tuned.
