Syllabus UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Exam 2011
Today Ministry of Personnel Govt of India, had published the syllabus for UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Exam 2011. The Preliminary exam consists of 2 papers total of for 400 marks. Paper 1 is based on General Knowledge and Current Affairs. While Paper 2 is a aptitude test. Both the papers will be 2 hours each.
The detailed sylabus is as followed:
Paper 1 (200 marks, 2 hours): General Knowledge & Current Affairs
- Current events of national and international importance
- History of India and Indian National Movement
- Indian and World Geography - physical, social, economic geography of Indian and world
- Indian polity and governance - constitution, political system, panchyati raj, public policy, rights issue etc
- Economic and Social Development - sustainable development, poverty inclusion, demographics, social sector initiatives etc
- General Issue on environmental ecology, bio-diversity, and climate change (that do not require subject specialization)
- General Science
Paper 2 (200 marks, 2 hours): Aptitude Test
- Comprehension
- Interpersonal Skills including communications skills
- Logical Reasoning and analytical ability
- Decision making and problem solving
- General Mental Ability
- Basic Numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc (Class X), Data Interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency, etc (Class X)
- English Language Comprehension Skills (Class X)
