How does ISB Evaluate a Profile for Admission?
This is one of the heavily guarded secrets of ISB. None of the aspiring candidates get insights on how a application to ISB is evaluated. The only information an aspirant can get from ISB site is that every application is evaluated broadly on parameters like Leadership Potential, Diversity, Academic Background, Analytical Ability and Work Experience. No one knows how each of these parameters weigh in the application process.
Well I decided to do some study and reverse engineer the evaluation parameters. I have spent over 2 years studying the ISB online application, attending ISB Info Sessions and going through tons of discussion forum posts. This can be the closest blueprint of ISB evaluation system available outside ISB Admissions team. Please use data with a pinch of salt and the post below is just a summary of my study.
Overview of ISB Evaluation System
- Every Application will be reviewed by 2 different reviewers. The final score will be calculated as an average. The only exception is interview where the panel gives a single score.
- Applicants will be pooled based on educational background
- A minimum cutoff of GMAT score will be calculated based on incoming applications for every pool
- Every pool will have its own evaluation parameters
- Marks will be awarded to every evaluation parameter and then candidates will be called for interview only if they clear the cutoff.
- Once the interview is over rank list is prepared based on marks obtained. The ranks are never published.

But it would be a fair guess that ISB adcom can get access to your last year’s application as you will be already mentioning your 2012 application number for 2013 application.
