ISB Info Session ITC Bangalore on June 5 Details

We have attended the ISB Info Session in Bangalore ITC Gardenia on June 5, 2011. ISB Info session will be conducted in several cities in coming 2-3 months. Check detailed schedule for ISB 2011 here.

The session was handled by AM Kannan and Amit. There were around 6-7 alumini who were available for informal chat. All the candidates received a brochure and a card holder with ISB embossed on it.

What to expect for an ISB Info Session?

The ISB Sessions are divided into 5 sections for about 2 hours

  • Brief Video on ISB (Sale Pitch)
  • About ISB
  • ISB Admission Process
  • General Q & A
  • Informal Chat

Below is some notes that we have taken down during the session

  • ISB concentrate more on emerging market. But nobody clarified what about emerging markets
  • New Campus in Mohali will be operation from April 2012
  • From 2012 the intake will be 760 (560 in Hyderabad and 210 in Mohali). ISB intake has gradually increased from 129 students in 2003. ISB claims it to be the fastest growing MBA school.
  • The admission process will be same for both campuses. There will be an option in the application to indicate the preference. Unfortunately no option to indicate preference of campus is available in the ISB online application as yet. The choice of campus will not play any role until all admission process is completed.
  • The admission process and placement activities is will be consolidated. Only course content delivery will be separate for both the locations
  • Stats: 100 International Visiting Professors, 42 resident professors, 3500+ alumni
  • 2012 Batch Stats: 65% Engg, 8% Accounting and Science 6%
  • ISB Essays have changed for 2013 application
  • Whole Evaluation process can be divided into Analytical Capacity, Professional Experience and Leadership Skills. The ISB team kept quiet on the parameters of evaluation. The only answer we got from there is that we look the application as a whole. But our assumption is that there are three stages in application. Candidate who has to clear all stages to get admission.
  • Stage 1: Under Analytical Capacity they review GMAT score, UG percentage and Class 12 marks. Stage 2: Under Professional Experience ISB evaluates Quality of Experience, Career Progression and Recommendations.  Stage 3 (Interview): Under Leadership Skills ISB evaluates Communication Skills, Leadership potential etc. Candidate who clear Stage 1 and 2 gets an interview call. More details on this in a separate post. Read our post on Trends of ISB Interview Call Getters for 2012 batch.
  • The application review process is structured. Every application is reviewed by 2 experts. There are points given at every stage (ie Analytical, Professional Experience and Leadership Skills)
  • There are 2 cycles for ISB admissions. Cycle 1 by September 15, 2011 and Cycle 2 by November 30. Equal number of offers are made in each cycle. There is a wait list created after Cycle 1. This list will be used incase enough candidates are not found in Cycle 2.

Some Facts of ISB

  • ISB is not recognized by UGC or AICTE
  • ISB course is exactly for 1 year
  • ISB PGP is a certificate course not a MBA
  • There are no internships for ISB. Instead you do an project on campus under ELP
